AI Blog: Copilot Tour Part 1

Welcome back to our AI blog.  Today, we’ll take a look at some of the features available in the free version of Copilot.

ChatGPT and Gemini have had their turn, let’s now review Microsoft’s Copilot.

 

Copilot

Copilot is Microsoft’s AI chatbot.  Whilst this is accessible through the Microsoft 365 Office applications with a paid subscription, we’re interested in the free version for now.  This is accessible at https://copilot.microsoft.com/.  Upon visiting this URL, Copilot will politely greet you:

Nice big screen!  Despite what Copilot might tell you, you can happily send a prompt (using the box at the bottom) without logging in:

Clicking on the Copilot logo in the bottom left will bring up some suggestions for what Copilot can help you with:

However, some of these features (as well as attaching files using the plus icon in the bottom left) may be restricted if you’re not logged in:

Let’s sign in to a free account and consider some of this functionality.  The first thing you may notice after signing in to use Copilot is that you now have access to the ‘Think Deeper’ option:

This feature aims to give more comprehensive responses at the cost of taking longer to respond.  Files can now also be uploaded:
