Microsoft updates means new and improved features, but it also means the odd bug slipping through. In this incidental series we cover some of the recent known issues that have cropped up and how to fix and / or circumvent them.

AutoRecovery is a Real Pane in Excel 2016

In Excel 2016 (in fact, it’s also an issue for Word 2016, PowerPoint 2016, Visio 2016 or OneNote 2016), if the application crashes, the AutoRecovery pane will not necessarily appear immediately when the program is restarted.

Microsoft has released a fix that should solve this issue in the latest update for Office 2016, version 16.0.6965.2053 or later. To ensure you get the latest updates, click File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.
