VBA Blogs: Introduction to VBA
13 January 2017
If you’ve never used macros but want to understand how they work, this series is for you.
For many people, macros and VBA is synonymous with “advanced” Excel. Those who understand macros must be really good at Excel, and those who don’t should just leave it to those who do. We’ll be the first to admit that this isn’t true on two counts – you don’t need to understand macros to be great at Excel (in fact, there are plenty who understand macros who don’t know more than about 5% of what Excel can really do), and just because you’re not a guru at macros doesn’t mean that you have to be helpless.
We’re going to launch a series of posts every Friday talking about VBA and will hopefully highlight some of the benefits, pitfalls and overall nuances for people who are dipping their toes into the world of macros. We’re going to cover a range of basics including how to record and adapt your own macros, VBA best practice, simple loops, along with a range of practical solutions to practical problems. If you forget when they ran on the blog or if you miss any, don’t worry – you will be able to find them in the Thought section of the website.
